The official currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD), which is pegged to the US dollar at a fixed rate, and US dollars are widely accepted alongside local currency. Major credit and debit cards are accepted at most hotels, larger restaurants, and tourist-facing businesses, though smaller vendors, local markets, and rural areas typically prefer cash. English is the official language and is used in government, education, and business throughout the islands. Many Vincentians also speak Vincentian Creole, an English-based creole with French and African influences, in informal and everyday settings.
