Chinatown Heritage Centre
Housed in three restored Peranakan shophouses on Pagoda Street, the Chinatown Heritage Centre traces the lives of the early Chinese immigrants who settled in Singapore during the 19th and 20th centuries. Reconstructed interiors depict the cramped living conditions of coolie labourers, opium dens, and family quarters with meticulous attention to period detail. It is one of the most immersive cultural museums in the city.
Fort Siloso, Sentosa
Fort Siloso is the only preserved coastal fortification in Singapore, constructed by the British in the 1880s to defend the western entrance to Keppel Harbour and used extensively during World War II. The site now operates as an open-air heritage museum where you can explore original gun emplacements, bunkers, and tunnels with interactive displays telling the story of the 1942 fall of Singapore. It provides a sobering and informative counterpoint to Sentosa's modern resort atmosphere.
Gardens by the Bay
Gardens by the Bay spans 101 hectares of reclaimed land along the Marina Bay waterfront and is home to the iconic Supertree Grove, a collection of towering vertical gardens that come alive with a nightly light-and-sound show. The two climate-controlled conservatories, the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, recreate cool Mediterranean and tropical highland environments. It is one of the most visited attractions in Asia and admission to the outdoor gardens is free.

Singapore uses the Singapore Dollar (SGD). Credit and debit cards are accepted almost everywhere, from hawker centres to luxury hotels. ATMs are widely available across the island, and contactless and QR-code payments via apps such as PayNow are common.
Singapore consistently ranks among the safest cities in the world. Crime rates are very low, and strict laws are enforced against drug use, vandalism, and littering. Singapore has an excellent public transport network. The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) rail system covers most of the island and is clean, air-conditioned, and affordable.
